Emergeny First Response Instructor |
The EFR Instructor Course teaches
you how to organise and teach the EFR and Care for
Children Courses. During the course you will get to
practise role model skill demonstrations on Primary
Assessment, One Rescuer CPR and Automated External
Defibrillator (AED).
A benefit to being able to teach
the EFR Course is that any student taking the Rescue
Diver Course with you can also complete the EFR Course,
which is a prerequisite, also with you.
Note: you must be certified as an Emergency
First Response Instructor before you can be certified
as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
To enroll in an Emergency First Response Instructor
Course, an individual must:
•
Have completed a sanctioned course in adult and child/infant
CPR within the past 24 months
• Have completed a sanctioned course in basic
first aid within the past 24 months
• be 18 years of age
The goals of the Emergency First Response Instructor
Course are to:
•
Assure that instructor candidates understand the Emergency
First Response program structure, requirements and
procedures.
• Familiarize instructor candidates with the
Emergency First Response program philosophy and prepare
them to teach courses that are low-stress, performance-based
and learner-centered.
• Refine instructor candidates’ primary
care, secondary care and Care for Children skills
to a role-model level.
• Provide instructor candidates with practical
suggestions for organizing and marketing their Emergency
First Response courses.
• Encourage instructor candidates to be active
Emergency First Response Instructors and to use their
skills to train others in the community.
